ABOUT US

Welcome and thanks for taking the time to read more about our store. Homestead Stitches is owned and operated by me, Annie, and my husband Allan Boomhour.

Growing up, I dreamt of owning a fabric store and never wavered from this dream. As a teenager, while my friends were spending money on clothes, I was buying quilt magazines, fabric and saving for my dream sewing machine. With the support of family, friends and most of all my husband Allan, my dream became a reality in April 2006 at the age of 23.

We were able to find the type of location that I had always envisioned my store to be in – a historic building with all original tin ceilings, tiled floors and built in cupboards that look like they were made for fabric. The store was originally a jewelry shop dating back to 1898. Today, the fabric looks as rich amongst the shelves as the jewelry did over the years. Now, I have the privilege of working every day with what I love the most – fabric, colours and varied patterns as well as being able to express my creativity. I have the pleasure of sharing ideas with my customers and helping them to create their own heirloom quilts and other projects. Customers have become special friends over the past year and we often hear from them how much they just love the store. I have been told that many people simply refer to the store as “Annie’s Store” and joke that I should have named it this.

We have seen continued growth in our  selection of fabrics, patterns, quilting notions and accessories. We anticipate continued growth as we strive to meet the needs of our customers. A new classroom was added to the store in February 2007 and it is just a humming with activity and has been well received by all.

The store carries a lot that is not featured on the web site, so if there is something that you do not find here, please send us an e-mail and we will do our best to accommodate your request.
Thanks again for visiting us ………. Happy quilting!
